Visit Peebles - The Royal Burgh

Cycling

Peebles is surrounded by some of the most beautiful countryside in the UK and it's perfect for cycling. It's also on the long route of the signposted Tweed Cycleway.

There are a multitude of possibilities for cycling around peebles, and the scenery is breathtaking wherever you go. Some routes are of course harder than others but there is something for everyone - whether it's just exploring the quiet streets of the town, a gentle cycle out around cademuir, the cycle path out to cardrona or tackling the Tweed Cycleway which stretches from Biggar in the west to Berwick-upon-Tweed on the east coast.

You can find some suggested cycle routes on this Scottish Borders Council leaflet:

The leaflet outlines routes :

To Traquair
The Meldons and Eddleston
The manor Valley
Dreva and Dawyk

There is also a relatively new and easy to follow cylce path which leads from near the rear entrance of the Hydro Hotel all the way out to Cardrona. A fork in the path after Eshiels leads up to Glentress for those looking for something more demanding.

Call into the Peebles Tourist Information Centre on the High Street, there you will find a range of cycling routes and map information for Peebles and the surrounding area. To find our more in advance of your visit see www.visitscottishborders.com
